Kitchen Remodeling Service in Tulsa

Tulsa Kitchen Remodeling Built Around How You Cook and Gather

Your kitchen has to handle weeknight dinners, homework at the island and holiday crowds. As a kitchen remodeler in Tulsa for more than 35 years, Powers Design & Build has opened up closed-off galleys, rebuilt kitchens around new islands and walk-in pantries, and turned dated layouts into rooms families actually gather in.

As a kitchen remodeling company, we start every project with how you use the room — where you prep, where things pile up, who’s always in the way. Then we design the layout, storage and lighting to fix it, and our own crews build it.

A great kitchen also has to fit the rest of the house. We look at how it connects to your dining and living areas, where guests end up during a party and how daylight reaches the room, so the new kitchen feels like it belongs, whether your style leans classic, modern or somewhere in between.

What Shapes Your Kitchen Remodel Investment

Every kitchen is different, so we price yours after we’ve seen it and talked through what you want. The biggest swing is scope: keeping the sink, range and walls where they are costs far less than relocating plumbing, gas lines or structure. After that, the cabinet line and appliance package you choose carry the most weight. In older Tulsa homes, outdated wiring or plumbing sometimes needs attention before the new kitchen goes in, and we’ll flag that during the walkthrough, not halfway through demo.

After design, you get an itemized proposal, so you know exactly where your money goes before work starts. For a deeper look, read what to splurge on and what to skip and our countertop cost guide.

What Every Great Kitchen Remodel Gets Right

  • Layout and flow. Clear zones for prep, cooking and cleanup, with walkways wide enough for two cooks and a landing spot beside every major appliance.
  • Storage. Deep drawers, pullouts, pantry space and cabinetry planned around what you keep and where you use it, so counters stay clear.
  • Surfaces. Countertops and backsplashes chosen for how hard you cook, not just how they photograph.
  • Lighting. Task lighting over work areas, ambient lighting for the room and accent lighting on separate controls.

Our Kitchen Renovation Process

  • Walkthrough. We measure, look at what isn’t working and talk through your goals and budget comfort zone.
  • Design and selections. Every cabinet, counter, appliance and fixture is chosen before demolition, so nothing gets decided on the fly.
  • Ordering. Cabinets and long-lead items are ordered as soon as you approve the plan, and construction is scheduled around their arrival.
  • Construction. Demolition, plumbing and electrical rough-in, inspections, then cabinets, counters, tile and finish work — with a schedule you see before we start.

Kitchen Remodeling Service FAQs

What kitchen layout works best for everyday cooking?

The best kitchen layout supports how you move from prep to cooking to cleanup. Clear work zones, smart appliance placement, and enough counter space help the kitchen feel easier to use without adding unnecessary steps or crowding the space every day.

Storage should be planned around what you keep and where you use it. Pantry space, deep drawers, tray dividers, pullouts, and hidden appliance storage can reduce clutter while keeping cookware, dishes, and everyday items easier to reach and put away.

An island is only worth it when the kitchen has enough clearance for seating, walkways, appliance doors, and cooking zones. In tighter spaces, a peninsula, longer counter run, or better cabinet layout might give the room more usable function overall.

Before construction starts, confirm appliances, cabinet layout, sink and faucet placement, lighting, flooring, backsplash, hardware, and countertops. Early decisions help the build team coordinate rough-ins, measurements, orders, and installation.

To keep a kitchen from dating quickly, choose timeless permanent pieces like cabinetry, countertops, lighting, flooring, and layout. Use trend-driven colors, hardware fixtures, or decorative details in smaller accents that are easier to update later.

If you’re looking for the person and team to upgrade or fix your home Bill Powers and his crew are the best. The work they do is superb. In our case Bill and his team saved us from a shady contractor. He inherited a mess of a job and finished the job with great results. In the case of my wife and I, we moved to Tulsa and under budget constraints and the advice of my realtor we hired a handyman to remodel our bathroom. To make a long story short, we had a handyman contractor talk a big game and say he could do it all himself. We paid him and things went from bad to worse. Well past the time we should’ve fired him, I reached out to Bill and he came in personally to inspect and form an action plan. Shortly thereafter we fired the fly-by-night contractor and hired Bill to salvage the bathroom and complete it before our first baby was to arrive (within a couple months). Bill and his team took what I thought would be a disaster and turned into a fully operational and beautiful bathroom remodel (in time for our baby to arrive). They fit us into their already full schedule and that first of many clues that Bill and his team really care about their clients and want to do right and good for people. Bill is the face, but Perry, Boyd, Blake, Julie, Rick, Craig, Mauricio, and the rest go their team was excellent. Bill has the best people in all areas and they are truly delightful to not only work on your home but talk too as well. I felt like any of them could be family or friends and never felt uncomfortable with them in my home. They had my trust completely. Whether you’re under a budget or not, if you want the job done right and by an outstanding team, then hire Bill. We could’ve just saved ourselves more money, time, and headaches and hired the team that would’ve done it right the first time. Bill, it took me a year to review you…I’m sorry, but thank you so much. We’re still as happy as we were then and I’ll recommend no one else but you for home remodels and upgrades…or also if they need bailed out of a sketchy remodel by a bad contractor. Thank you!

Bill, Julie, and their subcontractors are amazing! They listen, give expert advice, care deeply about the quality of their work, arrive promptly and leave the workplace clean, are considerate and polite, and happily go the "extra mile" to solve unforeseen issues. I enjoyed working alongside the Powers' team very much and highly recommend them to everyone considering a renovation/building project!

I has been nearly three years since Powers Design and Build completed a beautiful kitchen remodel for our home. Recently, I noticed the finish on some of my beautiful cabinets was peeling around the knob handles. After contacting Bill Powers about this he immediately sent Julie Fulton out to inspect the cabinet doors. They agreed that this should not be happening, contacted the manufacturer's rep and within weeks ordered a complete new set of cabinet doors for my ENTIRE kitchen. This would ensure that the shade of the finish on ALL my cabinet doors would match perfectly. The process was completed quickly, efficiently, and FREE of charge. Julie was SO friendly and an absolute delight to work with. Ray was conscientious, hard working, and the cabinet doors were hung beautifully. Thank you, Thank you! I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas Present! Sincerely, Christy A.

OMGosh, Bill Powers took my vague idea and turned it into a dream. Our kitchen renovation is a total transformation. The workers were clean, respectful, and very pleasant to interact with. Work was planned well and aside from the expected dust, I still felt like we had a “home” rather than a construction zone. Thanks, Bill. We love it!

Working with Powers Design & Build was a truly positive experience. From the beginning, they crafted an excellent plan that perfectly captured our vision and we absolutely love the final result. Our kitchen, family room, bar area, and pantry were transformed into an exceptional space that feels both functional and beautiful. The team was professional and skilled. Carpenters Ray and Mark stood out for their responsiveness, punctuality, and craftsmanship. Every specialist from the plumber to the tile floor installer, countertop team, and fireplace tile installer delivered top-notch work. One recommendation: be sure to document all decisions and changes in writing to keep everything clear and on track. Overall, we’re thrilled with the outcome and recommend Powers Design & Build for anyone seeking quality and creativity in their home renovation.

Powers Design and Build just completed a substantial renovation of my nearly 100-year-old home, including the creation of a primary suite and full renovation of an additional bathroom. From our first meeting, I was impressed with Bill’s (and Julie’s) hands-on approach. He responded quickly to my initial inquiry and sent me a proposed design and tentative budget shortly thereafter. The design demonstrated that Bill had listened to my ideas during our initial meeting and respected the character of my home. Throughout the renovation, he was frequently on site and was always accessible by phone and email. I can count on one hand the number of days my house was not bustling with construction activity during the 5-month project and everyone who played a role in the project was competent, professional, and committed to ensuring my satisfaction. Many of them have been working with Bill for decades. Because of the age of my house and the amount of deferred maintenance, unexpected issues delayed completion of my project. But I was grateful that Bill addressed these issues head-on with concern for my safety and the integrity of my home. I am thrilled with the results and can give Powers Design and Build my highest recommendation.
